I'm D, based in Cumbria. I spend my spare time on embedded systems, software-defined radio, antennas, and whatever project is currently on the bench. This site is a technical log of that work — written primarily so I remember what I did, but hopefully useful to others following similar paths.
My SDR setup runs on a Raspberry Pi 5 with an RTL-SDR Blog V4 dongle. I operate a radiosonde receiving station registered on SondeHub as KendSond (lat 54.322, lon -2.744), and I've built several companion display projects on the ESP32 CYD platform.
I'm also into LoRa/mesh networking (MeshCore, Meshtastic), 3D printing, EV ownership, and home energy systems. The common thread: I want to understand what's happening underneath, not just that it works.
